HANOI (2 Nov 2008) – The heavy rain over the last two days has forced the organisers of the T&T Cup to move the final round robin match between hosts Vietnam and Thailand to 16 Nov, 2008.
The decisive final match was to be played yesterday to decide the overall champion this year but with the My Dinh Stadium being water-logged, the game has had to be postponed. Thailand are currently at the top of standings with three points while Vietnam are second with one point from the same one game played. DPR Korea are at the bottom with one point from two matches – following their 1-0 loss to Thailand in the first game and then the scoreless draw against the hosts in their second match. In the meantime, Vietnam coach Henrique Calisto (pic) said that while his chargers have made steady progress over the months, he is still not satisfied with their level of play. “In the past two games, Vietnam’s competitors were strong. But our defenders played well, so our adversaries did not score even a goal,” said Calisto. “But the players struggled in the last 20 minutes where they can’t seem to wait for the game to finish – that is not a good sign. And because of that, they lost concentration.” |
