YANGON (17 Nov 2016) – Coming off the back of a recent 3-0 loss to Oman this week, Myanmar head coach Gerd Zeise is taking a more pragmatic approach to the team’s campaign ahead of the AFF Suzuki Cup which kicks off in two days.
Myanmar, who will co-host the AFF Suzuki Cup this year alongside the Philippines, have been on a whirlwind tour of Europe which saw them playing a total of eight friendly matches.
But following their loss to Oman in Yangon this week, the team’s defensive frailty was laid bare and which led Zeise to comment: “in the AFF Suzuki Cup, we’ll give the best form we can with our current talent.”
“But I can’t promise we’ll climb up to the semi-final. Whatever – we’ll prepare as best we can.”
Myanmar are in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup against Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
