VIENTIANE (13 Aug 2015) – A tough match against South Korea awaits Laos early next month as they looked to win their first three points of the 2018 World Cup qualifying match.
Playing in Group G, the Laotians had opened their campaign at home with a 2-2 draw against ASEAN neighbors Myanmar before losing to Lebanon 2-0 at the same venue.
Head coach Steve Darby has drawn up a comprehensive programme in the run-up to the match that will be played at the Hwaseong Stadium in Hwaseong, South Korea and which will begin with a centralized training camp on 22 August 2015.
“As the national coach, I have the responsibility to choose the best players available to play for Laos irrespective of age of club. Players who are suspended or who do not wish to play for the team are of course omitted as we need players with 100% enthusiasm and application,” said Darby.
“We are playing one of the best teams in the world who represented Asia at the FIFA World Cup in 2014. So it will be a top level game for the players.
“No coach can guarantee a result but we guarantee maximum effort to get the best results we can for the Laos fans.”
