YANGON (26 Feb, 2008) – Asean champions Myanmar face a tough test in their aspiration to make the finals round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2008 when they were placed in a tough group for the qualifiers next month.
Myanmar are in Group A alongside Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Iran where they will be playing all their matches at the Thanh Long Sports Complex Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Thailand on the other hand are in Group B against Korea Republic, Philippines and Malaysia with the venue at the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium in Korat, Thailand. The qualifiers will be played between 24-28 March, 2008 with only the top two teams from each group winning tickets to the final round of the championship this year at a yet-to-be announced venue.
