PHNOM PENH (24 August 2009) – With just three matches left to the end of the preliminary round of the Cambodia Premier League 2009, the fight to win the top four places to the next round is almost at an end.
Currently, Phnom Penh Crown are at the top of the table with 38 points from 16 matches although they have played two games more than second-placed Preah Khan Reach FC who have amassed 33 points. On third is Khemara Keila FC with 28 points and a point behind is Naga Corp FC on fourth. Both have played 15 games. Further down on fifth is Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC with 21 points – the same with Build Bright United. And this week, Phnom Penh strengthened their position with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Build Bright United as Kirivong overcame Phouchung Neak FC 2-0. Phnom Penh’s early goal form Phuong Narong in the sixth minute was cancelled out by Build Bright’s O. A. Ogbeide in the 33rd minute. But Tunji Ayoyinka turned the table on Build Bright with a brace in the 41st minute and 92nd minute to secure the three points for Phnom Penh. On the other, Kirivong had a much easier encounter against Phouchung with two second-half goals from Vinh Nhuc Treung in the 53rd minute and Ouk Thun a minute to the end. |
