JAKARTA (7 August 2016) – Following a handful of friendly matches, Indonesian Under-19 head coach Eduard Tjong has trimmed his squad to 24 players ahead of the AFF U19 Championship next month.
The AFF U19 meet will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 11-24 September.
“The six players whom we have cut have not been able to compete against the existing players,” said Tjong. “Also these players could not adjust to our combination play.”
The six players who have been left out are Taufik Febriyanto, Ilham Wibowo, Muhammad Rizky Ramadhan, Asis Wattimena, Riyanto, and Andreas.
In Hanoi, the Indonesian U19 squad have been placed in Group B against Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Australia and Cambodia.
The second centralised training session will start tomorrow in Jogyakarta where another series of friendly matches have been planned including games against the Philippines U19 and also Singapore U19.
