DILI (27 Sept 2009) – Timor Leste continue to impress in the on-going AFC Under-16 qualifiers when they beat Singapore 3-0 to be joint Group F leaders with hosts China in Beijing.
In the match that was played at the NTFA Stadium, Timor were full of confidence as they grabbed the early lead in the 11th minute off Barreto Olegario. Santos Efrem then made it 2-0 barely five minutes later before Fidel Araujo completed the rout with their third goal of the game in the 89th minute. In the first two matches of the qualifiers, Timor had held China to a goalless draw and beaten Hong Kong 3-0. With the win, Timor Leste are now second at the table in Group F with the same number of points from three matches played alongside China.
