PHNOM PENH (1 April 2010) – Defending champions Naga Corp FC made a fine start to their title defence in the Metfone Cambodian League 2010 when they completely overwhelmed Prek Pra Keila FC 5-0.
Tiep Vathanak gave Naga the best of start with the lead in the 14th minute before an own goal from Matt Phala four minutes later stalled their opponents’ confidence as Naga captain Sin Sovanarith then slammed the third goal in the 43rd minute for them to be 3-0 in front at the break. Naga were a little more patient going into the second half and while they did add to their tally with their fourth goal of the game from Yemi Joseph, it was not until the 87th minute that Sovanarith was able to complete his brace and Naga’s fifth goal goal of the afternoon. In the meantime, Hun Sen Cup champions Defense Ministry FC had two quick goals off Suong Virak in the 10th minute and Chhin Chhrouen in the 18th minute to thank for their slim 2-1 victory over Khemara Keila FC. While Khemara did pull a goal back in the 30th minute from Sok Phal Oudom’s effort, they just could not raise their game to find the all important equalizer. |
