VIENTIANE (7 Nov 2015) – Laos national coach Steve Darby has opted to rope in three youngsters for their 2018 World Cup qualifying match that will be played 17 November at the KM 16 National Stadium in the Lao capital city.
The three youngsters from the Young Elephant playing in the Lao Premier League are Anouwath Phaphakdy, Piyaphong Pathammavong and Saymanolinh Paseuth.
“The LFF are doing everything in a professional manner and prepare the national teams in the best way possible,” said Darby. “Having a full stadium cheering us will be a great help to the team.
“We have some players withdraw from the squad due to work commitments, but this has given the opportunity to bring in young players to learn about international football, travel and the step up in pace.
“We are trying to build a ‘Team-Laos’ where players get experience when young and mature. These young players should be the core of our next SEA Games and possibly the AFF Football Championship team.”
Prior to that however, Laos will play two friendly matches against Bahrain.
