YANGON (31 March 2010) – Zeyar Shwe Myay continued their fine start to the Myanmar National League (MNL) with yet another victory to make it three out of three for the maximum possible points – just three matches into the new season.
Zeyar Shwe Myay, who had beaten Yadarnabon 3-0 in their first league match of the season and then edged out Magway 1-0 in their second match, were on target again this time round for a well-deserved 1-0 win over Yangon United. Following a first-half deadlock, Zeyar Shwe Myay upped the tempo after the break for Ye Waiyan Soe to score the only goal of the game in the 74th minute. Kanbawza kept up the pressure at the top of the table with an easy 2-0 victory over basement side Naypyitaw FC. Striker Soe Min Oo and Sa Htet Naing Win found the back of the net in on 81st and 90th minute respectively for Kanbawza to remain on second with a draw and two wins from three matches. Another basement side who have yet to pick up a single point Zwekapin United also struggled in their tie against Delta United before succumbing to a 3-0 loss. James, Hla Aye Htwe and Stanley scored for Delta on 59, 60 and 87 minutes although the serious head injury to Zwekapin goalkeeper Than Zaw Win made things worst for the side who are still winless after three matches. With Southern Myanmar FC beating Okkthar United 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming off Nigerian Striker Prince, the 2-2 draw between Yadanarbon FC and Magway FC was marred by a fracas in which four red cards were shown (one for Yadarnabon and three for Magway). The goalscorers in the game were Abolargi, who scored for Magway in the 40th and 65th minutes while John scored for Yadarnadon in the 45th and 84th minutes.
