JAKARTA (6 November 2023) – Indonesia Under-17 head coach Bima Sakti feels that the team is more fluid after trimming the squad to 21 from 31 players ahead of the team’s opening game against Ecuador in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2023.
Host Indonesia will open their campaign in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2023 against Ecuador on 10 November 2023 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
“After trimming the team down to 21 players, the team is more fluid. They can communicate better because maybe before (the announcement of the finalised list of players) the players were worried about being selected or otherwise,” said Bima.
“Psychologically, the players are enjoying it more and can communicate better. The players can adapt quickly.”
For the FIFA U17 World Cup 2023, Indonesia are in Group A against Ecuador, Panama and Morocco, with all matches to be played at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium.
After the Ecuador game on 10 November 2023, Indonesia will take on Panama (on 13 November 2023) and then Morocco (on 16 November 2023).
