JOHOR BARU (6 Aug 2015) – Defending champions Johor Darul Takzim hammered the day lights out of Premier League bound Sime Darby with 4-0 win at the Larkin Stadium while leaders Pahang remained on top of the Malaysian Super League with a 2-0 win over Armed Forces in Kuantan.
After 17 matches and five more to go Pahang are still on top with 39 matches with JDT keeping pace with 37 points while third placed Perak dropped more points in their 3-2 defeat to Police at the Shah Alam Stadium. It was Perak’s second straight defeat, having lost 1-0 to Kelantan last week.
JDT showed their might with Argentine hot shot Luciano Figueroa opened scoring with a header on 31 minutes off a corner by Nazrin Nawi. Goal No 2 came just before the halftime whistle and again it Nazrin who was provider and Asraruddin Putra Omar putting the finishing touches with a header.
It was 3-0 for JDT and plenty to cheer for the Southern Tigers fans singing when Safiq Rahim found the net in the 49th minute . It was Figueroa again who got his name into the scoresheet with his second goal of the night in the 68th minute.
At the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, Pahang were in front as early as the 11th minute when Matias Conti header found the net Dickson Nwakaeme got the second for the Elephants when he connected a R. Gopinathan cross.
Terengganu were on fire at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Terengganu with a 4-2 win over Singapore outfitt Lions XII. The 4-2 win.
The Turtles never looked back after taking the lead in the 3rd minute when Helmi Remeli beat Lions goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud. Lions equalised in the the 24th minute through Madu Mohana but were never in danger of losing after Issey Nakjima made it 2-1 for the homesters off a cross from Ashaari Shamsuddin in the 25th minute.
Nakajima was again in the scoring sheet with his second in the 51st minute only to see Lions narrow the deficit in the 54th minute. But Nor Shahrul Idlamn Talaha completed the rout minutes later for a comfortable 4-2 win.
Police upset Perak 3-2 at Shah Alam.
In Kuching Andik Vermansyah put Selangor in the lead in the 39th minute but Sarawak shared the spoils with Patrick Nyema scoring from a Ryan Griffiths cross.
