KUALA LUMPUR (26 Dec 2010) – The temperature in the National Stadium is beginning to heat up even though there’s still a good three hours before the kick-off of the eagerly anticipated AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 final between Malaysia and Indonesia tonight.
The fans began gathering around Bukit Jalil from around noon and the numbers have increasing significantly since. At around 4pm (Malaysian time) the gates were opened to allow the fans into the grand 80,000 capacity stadium.
“I came early to get a good seat,” said a Malaysian fan.
An Indonesian journalist from TV One commented that he did not want to take any chances of being caught in the traffic and risk missing anything important. “That’s why I have been here since 2pm.”
Despite the massive rivalry between the two nations, it was great to see fans from both sides walking side by side as they made their way towards the stadium.
As of 5pm, over 20,000 fans had already taken up positions inside. The match kicks-off at 8pm tonight.
