BANGKOK (24 Dec 2014) – The appreciation came as soon as they landed at the Suvarnabhumi airport in the Thai capital and following their win of the AFF Suzuki Cup this year, the Thai national side has been amply rewarded.
From the initial promise of THB23 million (USD 699,000) reward, the victorious Thai side was rewarded with a total of THB33 million (USD 1,003,000) from the FA of Thailand (FAT) and sponsors.
The AFF Suzuki Cup win in 2014 is their fourth in the history of the biennial championship following victories in the inaugural year in 1996 to be followed by titles in 2000 and 2002.
And last weekend, a fabulous fightback at the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur allowed Thailand to lift the ASEAN crown on 4-3 aggregate win over Malaysia.
