HANOI (5 Sept 2012) – Vietnam national coach Phan Thanh Hung has included six players from recently crowned V-League champions SHB Da Nang in the team that will begin their preparation this week for the AFF Suzuki Cup later in the year.
Out of the 23 players that were named to the squad, more than half were from the three teams that had finished at the top of the V-League 2012 standings recently.
The three teams were champions SHB Da Nang, who gave four players while second placed Hanoi T&T – which is also Thanh Hung’s team – have six players. Three players came from third-placed squad Sai Gon Xuan Thanh for a total of 13 players from the top three teams alone.
Thanh Hung has also called on several veterans like defenders Nguyen Van Bien (Hanoi T&T), goalkeepers Duong Hong Son (Hanoi T&T) as well as striker Le Cong Vinh of Hanoi FC (pix).
Vietnam will take on defending champions Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on 9 September before playing Indonesia twice – in Jakarta on 15 September and then on 22 September in Hanoi.
