BANGKOK (3 May 2008) – Thailand are the firm favourites for an international football Under-19 championship which is to be held in Vietnam this week.
Hanoi is the host city for a five-day international U19 tournament with kick-off slated for 5 May 2008 Thailand, Malaysia and Laos have confirmed their attendance for the meet which is to be called the Number One Cup. Thailand, who won the Vietnam U21 Open title last year with players several years younger, have been picked as the tournament favourites. The winning team stands to win USD3,000, while the two runners-up will receive USD2,000 and USD1,000 respectively with the winner of the fair-play award receiving USD500. |
