BANGKOK (23 Oct 2012) – Thailand’s preparation for the FIFA Futsal World Cup next month suffered a bump yesterday when they fell to a humiliating 5-4 defeat to Australia in the second game of the All Stars Futsal Festival. The hosts had begun the meet with a 4-3 win over Egypt two days earlier.
At one point, Thailand were trailing by four goals off strikes from Keenan Duimpie, Tobias Seetos, Gregory Giovenali and Jarrod Basger.
And while Supawut Thienklang did pull a goal back for Australia to lead 4-1 at the break, there really was no way back after Basger nailed the team’s second goal for the visitors to be 5-1 in front.
Thailand cut back the deficit with two goals from Apiwat Jamcharoen and then another from Natee Jeepon for the final score line.
The other two teams taking part are Solomon Islands and Panama.
