BANGKOK (11 Sept 2012) – Former ASEAN champions Thailand will take on Laos tomorrow at the Rajamangala Stadium without the firing prowess of striker Teerasil Dangda.
The SCG Muang Thong forward has had to be left out of the Thai squad under Winfried Schaefer due to a serious cut above his eye he suffered in a Thai Premier League (TPL) match on the weekend.
Thailand’s last friendly match was against a TPL All-Star (foreign players in the league) side last month which ended 5-1 in favour of the Thai national side.
For Laos, they will be in confident mood where other than the fact that they are now being handled by a new coach in Kikuchi Kimura of Japan, the team had just last night beaten the Philippines 2-1 in a friendly at home in Vientiane.
Other than having finished as the semi-finalists at the AFF Suzuki Cup two years ago, the Philippines also boast a handful of European based players.
The Philippines and Thailand are already in the final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 while for Laos, they will have to play in the qualifiers next month in Yangon where they will be up against hosts Myanmar, Cambodia, Brunei and Timor Leste.
There are only two spots available from the qualifiers.
