THAILAND CRASH TO POLAND; SINGAPORE SUFFER BIG DEFEAT

The Poles, eager to form a strong squad for their European Championship campaign, found the target off Kamil Glik in the 42nd minute, Patryk Malecki (52nd) and substitute Marcin Robak (85th).

Thailand’s only goal of the game came off veteran midfielder Therdsak Chaiman deep in injury time.

Both sides had chances in the first half but the first goal of the game came just before the interval where a poor clearance by the Thai defence allowed Glik to hit the ball home off a goal-mouth melee.

Malecki doubled the score line just seven minutes after the restart when he punished the hesitant Thai backline to put Poland firmly in the driver‘s seat.

The sending off of Peszko Slawomir for a second yellow card offence gave Thailand some hope but Robak put the game beyond the reach of the hosts with the third goal five minutes to the end.

”We played well in the first half but conceded the goal because of a set-play. This should not have happened,” said Robson.

“We became undisciplined after we conceded the second goal. This is a lesson for the team.”

In an earlier match, defending champions Denmark are almost certain to win the King’s Cup for the second year running when they blasted in five goals – Jim Larsen, Jacob Poulsen (penalty), Rajko Lekic, Mikkel Thygesen and Soren Rieks.

Fazrul Nawaz scored a consolation for Singapore in the final minutes.

In the final round of matches on Saturday, Thailand will take on Denmark while Poland play Singapore.
