BANGKOK (16 Nov 2016) – Thailand picked up on the positive showing against Australia last night to name their squad for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 which kicks off in three days.
The Thais – the defending champions of the regional tournament – were held to a 2-2 draw by Australia who needed two penalties before they were able to salvage the one point.
“There are no favourite sons in this team,” said Thai head coach Kiatisak Senamuang, who had guided the team to their fourth ASEAN crown two years ago.
“Just the best players whom I think can deliver for Thailand. The game against Australia was important but so is defending the ASEAN title.”
Thailand are in Group A of the AFF Suzuki Cup against hosts Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore.
