HO CHI MINH CITY (17 May 2017) – Thai Nguyen bounced back on the second match day of the second leg of the Vietnam Women’s Football Championships when they beat Hanoi Two 2-1 at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
After being humiliated by Phong Phu Ha Nam on the first match day, Thai Nguyen came out with all guns blazing with Hoang Thị Thao nailing the opener in the 28th minute off a pass from Huyen Linh.
And in spite of the rain, Hanoi Two fought back for the equaliser through Xuan Diep in the 39th minute.
But Thai Nguyen were determined for the full points and Luong Thị Xuyen finally scored the winner seven minutes to the end for the hard fought win.
Elsewhere, title aspirants Phong Phu Ha Nam were held to a goalless draw by former champions Hanoi One.
With the draw, Vietnam Mineral and Coal have taken the lead at the top of the standings with six points while Phong Pu Ha Nam and Hanoi One are on second and third respectively with four points each.
