BANGKOK (Dec 9, 2007) – Hosts Thailand kept their hopes of a clean sweep at this year’s Futsal event of the SEA Games alive when both their men and women’s team made the semi-finals of the meet.
The women’s team which had started strongly with a 6-0 whitewash of Myanmar in their first Group B match then completed the fixtures with a 4-1 win over Vietnam last night to win the group. They will now take on the Philippines in the semi-finals which will be played on Dec 11 at the Indoor Stadium, Sports Authority of Thailand. The men’s team on the other hand stayed true to their mantle as the Asean champions when they overwhelmed Malaysia 6-2 last night in their final Group A match. The score at the break was 3-1 in favour of the Thais. Thailand, who won the group with an 8-3 win over Myanmar in the first game and then a 14-0 thrashing of the Philippines in their second match, will take on Laos in the semi-final on Dec 11. |
