PETALING JAYA (Feb 7, 2007): The Asean Football Federation (AFF), during its Council meeting in Bangkok on Feb 4, discussed the issue of the first-leg home & away final match of the Asean Football Championship involving Thailand and Singapore at length.
It was decided during the Council meeting that a Disciplinary Committee, comprising Tengku Ahmad Rithaudeen, the Committee’s Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad, the AFF Head of Delegation for the first leg of the final match, H.E. Ravy Khek, H.E. Francisco Kabualdi and Dr Tran Quoc Vong, was to be formed. The Disciplinary Committee met at The Regent in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to review the incident that occurred during the first-leg final match in Singapore. The Disciplinary Committee closely studied the reports of the Match Commissioner, Referee and heard the verbal report of the AFF Head of Delegation for the said match. The Committee further viewed the video of the match and the incident that followed. There was a lengthy deliberation on the facts of the case and the Committee decided that there was evidence of dissent on the part of the Thailand team and this resulted in the delay of restart of the match. Having regard to the facts produced at the enquiry, we are of the opinion that reprimand would be fitting punishment in the circumstances. The Committee also took the opportunity to congratulate and thank the FA of Thailand and the people of Thailand for their exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship during the second leg final match at the Supachalasai Stadium on Feb 4. |
