BANGKOK (27 Jan 2009) – The return of striker Teerathep Winothai is a boost for Thailand as they look to face powerhouse Iran in the Asian Cup 2011 qualifying round at the Rajamangala Stadium tomorrow.
The Group E match will be the second game for both teams following Thailand’s 0-0 draw with Jordan in Amman while Iran thumped Singapore 6-0 in Teheran in their opening campaign the previous week. Teerathep has returned from Belgium where he plays for second division side K Lierse SK. “My aim is to help the team get at least one point against Iran,” said Teerathep (pic). “We know that Iran are one of Asia’s top teams. But we will be playing in front of our fans. It does not matter if I will be in the starting line-up or will be at the bench although I would like to score for the team if given the chance.” Thailand coach Peter Reid has been tight-lipped about his possible line-up where there has been suggestion that strike duo Teerasil Dangda and Ronnachai Rangsiyo might be given the nod. Tickets for the match are priced at 100, 200, 300 and 500 baht. |
