BANGKOK (20 July 2009) – A brace from Teerasil Dangda did it for Thailand as they coast to an easy 4-0 win over Pakistan in their final tune-up match at the Thunderdome Sports Complex on Saturday.
The match was being used by the Thai national team in preparation for the exhibition game against Liverpool on 22 July 2009 (Wednesday) at the Rajamangala Stadium. Teerasil opened account in the seventh minute of play before Rangsan Vivatchaichoke added the second off a penalty a minute later. Pakistan, who had conceded a 2-0 loss to the Thai’s Under-23 side a few days earlier, then conceded the third goal in the 16th minute when Teerasil blasted home. Substitute Teerathep Winothai, who had replaced Teerasil at the break, then completed the rout seconds after the restart. “We played well but Pakistan tightened up their defence in the second half which made it more difficult for us to score,” said Peter Reid, the head coach for Thailand. The kick-off for the Thailand-Liverpool match on Wednesday will be at 8pm (Local time). |
