BANGKOK (29 Sept 2019) – Former Thai Premier League Player of the Year Teerasil Dangda has been recalled to the national side by head coach Akira Nishino for the October qualifiers of the second round FIFA World Cup 2022.
The 31-year-old is part of a 23-man squad that was announced by Akira as part of the preparation to take on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 15 October 2019 in Bangkok.
Prior to that, Thailand will take on Congo on 10 October 2019.
Other than Teerasil, the newly-appointed Japanese tactician has also called up young striker Suphanat Mueanta and Supachai Chaided – both from Buriram United – to the squad.
Goalkeeper Siwarak Tedsungnoen is likely to be given responsibility as the captain while Elias Dolah from Port FC will be making his debut in the national team where he will come in place for the injured Tristan Do.
Thailand currently lead Group G of the qualifiers after their 0-0 home draw against Vietnam and then a 3-0 win over Indonesia in Jakarta.
