SINGAPORE (7 April 2014) – Defending S-League champions Tampines Rovers crashed to their first defeat of the season when they were thumped 4-2 by Hougang United at home at the Hougang Stadium.
Just seven minutes in, Geison Moura lobbed the ball over Tampines keeper Hyrulnizam Juma’at for the lead before doubling the advantage a few minutes later.
Diego Gama then headed in goal No. 3 with an easy header as pressure mounts on Tampines to stage a comeback. And the reply from Salim Moin’s men finally came through in the 60th minute when Noh Alam Shah fed the ball for veteran Aleksandar Duric to tap the ball in.
But any thought of a revival was quickly extinguished when Gama blitzed in through the Tampines defence to slot home his second and Houngang’s fourth.
Not even a second goal from Tampines’ Shahdan Sulaiman at the end could deny Hougang their celebratory mood.
