SINGAPORE (17 Feb 2009) – The opening match of the Great Eastern-Yeo’s S-League last night did not see a flurry of goals being scored as expected by the partisan crowd when Tampines Rovers were held scoreless by Home United.
In the match that was played at the Tampines Stadium, the high point in an intense exchange was to witness former S-League best player Peres De Oliveira miss a penalty in the 59th minute which would certainly have given Home their first three points on the road. Incidentally, De Oliveira was also the first player in the S-League this year to pick up a yellow card for an offense in the 34th minute. The next match in the S-League will be tonight when Geylang United face off Albirex Niigata at the Bedok Stadium and the Super Reds taking on the Young Lions at the Yishun Stadium in two days. |
