Adelaide United will have to play-off against either Shandong Luneng FC (CHN), Mohun Bagan AC (IND) or Tampines Rovers (SIN) to enable them to join Group F of the AFC Champions League with Sanfrecce Hiroshima (JPN), FC Seoul (KOR), Buriram United (THA).
