PHNOM PENH (22 Feb 2015) – Svay Rieng FC picked up the first silverware of the new Cambodian season when they lifted the Hun Sen Cup 2015 after beating NagaWorld 2-1 in the final.
It was Svay Rieng’a third victory in eight years.
Sun Sophana’s 44th minute free kick had given Svay Rieng the lead before the visiting Naga side equalized through Prak Mony Odom at the hour mark.
And just when Naga thought that penalties were in order, Nub Tola stabbed home the winner right at the death to give Svay Rieng the hard fought victory.
“The Hun Sen Cup is a massive win, and we had to be at our best to defeat NagaWorld because they are a very strong team,” said Svay Rieng coach Sam Vandeth.
In the meantime, TriAsia finished third in the competition after beating holders National Police Commissary 3-0 playoff.
