BANGKOK (22 March 2009) – Suratthani Lightning Shrimp made it a double in their first two games of the Thai Futsal League 2009 when they grabbed their second full points with a 4-2 win over CAT Telecom.
The Southern outfit had opened their campaign this season with a 9-2 thrashing of Sripatum University the previous week. But this time round, they were made to work hard for just a 1-0 lead at the break with Tanapol Poomviset scoring the only goal in the first half in the fourth minute. And the second half proved to be a long-winded exchange before Suratthani slammed their second goal of the afternoon from Anukoon Mini in the 29th minute. The score stood at 3-0 for Suratthani when Akapol Klomkleang nailed the third goal on 32 minute as CAT Telecom then scored their long-awaited first goal several seconds later off Wirayut Taveegun. Gilberto Giba then gave CAT Telecom a chance of at least stealing a point with the team’s second goal in the 34th minute but Suratthani were not to be denied their place at the top of the standings when Ekasit Keawkongmuang scored the fourth goal with seconds remaining on the clock. In the meantime, Chonburi Bluewave kept up the pressure at the top of the table with their second win in as many matches. The Pattaya-based side slammed Sripatum University 9-3 for the latter to remain anchored at the bottom of the table. Supawut Thueanklang were on target as early as the first minute before Kritsada Wongkeaw (4th, 29th and 30th minute) and Ekapong Suratsawang (25th ,35th and 39th) each contributed a hat-trick for the well-deserved victory over their hapless opponent. The other goals for Chonburi were scored by Panomkorn Saisorn in the sixth minute and Anucha Munjarern in the seventh minute. Sripatum’s goals were scored by Nntawit Wongpibulsuk (15th and 16th minute) and Petch Prasomsri in the 31st minute. Defending champions Port Authority of Thailand on the other hand picked up their first point of the season with a hard fought 3-3 draw against Rattana Bundit. With the solitary point from two matches thus far, Port Authority are placed 10th. |
