SINGAPORE (2 Feb 2013) – V. Sundramoorthy is keeping it positive despite the 3-1 loss the four-time ASEAN champions Singapore suffered against Bahrain in a friendly that was played last night at the National Stadium in Riffa.
“The boys have played their best and fight for every ball against a top team like Bahrain, and everybody is fighting hard to earn a starting place for the match against Jordan,” said Singapore stand-in coach V. Sundramoorthy (pix).
“There were a lot of positives from the team, but also know which areas we need to work much harder to improve and get ready for the next game against Jordan.”
A brace from speedy winger Mahmood Merza Alajmi in the 19th and 57th minute and then another from Sami Mohamed Alhusini (85th minute) were enough to see them through the tie although Safuwan Baharudin did pull a goal for the Lions in the 70th minute.
The game was also marked by a red card on Shakir Hamzah eight minutes to the end.
