BANGKOK (26 June 2009) – Sripatum University picked up only their third win of Thai Futsal League this week but it was enough to deny TOT the chance to keep pace with the league leaders.
TOT, who went into the match confident that they were up against the basement side, were not at all prepared for the reception which awaits them as they fell to a close 6-5 defeat. Sripatum were quick on the draw to take a 2-0 lead at the half with goals coming off Nantawit Wongpiboonsuk in the seventh minute and Pongsakorn Jansaka two minutes later. TOT rallied in the second half to catch up with goals from Akadej Chuaiklai (22nd minute), Siriroj Panyateerawong (26th and 39th), Natawut Kongnimit (37th) and then Natapun Namboonmee (38th) but they were not enough. Sripatum made sure of the three points through Saharat Inpan (24th minute), Pongsakorn (27th), Sukniran Sansoong (35th) and Phakdee Phuphakdee (37th) for the full points. With the loss, TOT are still placed fifth but they are now 17 points behind leaders Chonburi Bluewave, who set aside Bangkok 7-3 this week. Second-placed CAT Telecom were also winners on the day when they whitewashed Nonthaburi 9-0 while fourth-placed I AM Sport saw off Rattana Bundit University 6-4.
