JAKARTA (25 May 2015) – Indonesian football is set to see action once again following the directive given by Jusuf Kalla – the vice president of Indonesia – that the freeze on the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) should be lifted.
All activities of the PSSI were frozen recently when the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports felt that the national body failed to follow their directives with regards to the organization of the Indonesian Super League.
But following the meeting with Jusuf alongside Imam Nahrawi, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hinca Panjaitan, the deputy president of the PSSI, Agum Gumelar, the former PSSI president and also Rita Subowo from the Indonesian Olympic Council, the decision was made to lift the freeze order.
“We met the Sports Minister and also PSSI. We discussed the problems with football in Indonesia and also the issues with PSSI,” said Jusuf, second in command to Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
“The agreement was made that first and foremost, Indonesian football must be organized well, with a good competition. As such, it is for these reasons that PSSI must be back active.”
Jusuf added that following the meeting today that was held at his office, the process to remove the freeze notice on the PSSI will be expedited by today.
“The process is already ongoing. The Sports Minister will report to the President (Jokowi). After the report, then will the unfreeze notice be dealt,” added Jusuf.
