HANOI (13 March, 2008) – Southern Steel Saigon Port have moved up to the top of the V-League this week even though they just picked up one point in their last match against ACB Hanoi.
The 1-1 draw against ACB Hanoi – after Trindade’s sixth minute penalty conversion was cancelled out by Huynh Diep in the 75th minute – allowed Southern Steel to replace Haiphong as the new V-League leaders with just a point advantage. In the meantime, several teams improved their position in mid-table as Song Lam Nghe An defeated Hoa Phat Hanoi 2-1 while Dan Nang beat Thanh Hoa 2-0 with the two goals coming off Brazillian striker Almeida. The Cong were held to a scoreless draw by Binh Dinh at Quy Nhon Stadium as central highlands club Hoang Anh Gia Lai suffered a 2-1 loss to Khatoco Khanh Hoa at the Nha Trang Stadium.
