HANOI (5 April 2012) – A string of friendlies in Slovakia have been planned for the Vietnam national Under-22 squad as they gear up for the qualifying round of the AFC Under-22 Asian Cup which will be played out in June.
The 30-member squad under chief coach Mai Duc Chung will go through an intensive two weeks of training at Slovakian side, MSK Zilina FC. For the qualifiers that will be held in Yangon, Vietnam are in Group G alongside hosts Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei and the Philippines.
The AFC U22 Asian Cup qualifiers will see the participation of 40 teams where they have been divided into seven groups to play in a round robin competition. Only 16 teams will make the cut for the final rounds.
