SINGAPORE (10 March 2019) – The Singapore Under-22 team is currently in Japan for acclimatization as they prepare for the upcoming AFC U23 qualifiers.
With the qualifiers to be held in Mongolia on 22-26 March 2019, the Young Lions will need to get accustomed to cooler conditions.
Singapore are drawn in Group G against DPR Korea, Hong Kong and hosts Mongolia for the qualifiers with only the 11 group winners and four best second-placed teams qualifying for the championship in Bangkok next year.
“Given Mongolia’s climate, the training camp in Japan is critical for the team to acclimatise to playing in cold weather conditions. We want the boys to be able to focus on the qualifiers and show what they can bring to the team,” said head coach Fandi Ahmad.
