SINGAPORE (8 April 2016) – The Under-14 Girls’ National Team began the Jockey Club Girls’ International Youth Invitational Football Tournament 2016 today with a handsome 3-0 win over hosts Hong Kong at the Tin Yip Road Park Artificial Turf Football Pitch.
Dorcas Chu opened the scoring in the 44th minute to send the young Lionesses into the break with a 1-0 lead, before Putri Nur Syaliza binte Sazali added a second goal four minutes into the second half.
Syaliza then rounded off the match with another goal in the 71st minute to give the Under-14 Girls a perfect start to the tournament.
This was the team’s second 3-0 win in a row, after recording the same scoreline against Causeway rivals Malaysia on 16 March at another invitational tournament in Shizuoka, Japan.
The girls will have to overcome tiredness to face a stern test tomorrow against Thailand, before playing a third match in three days against Guam on Sunday.
