SINGAPORE (14 August 2014) – Singapore will be sending their Under-23 team to the Asian Games in Incheon following a successful appeal to the Singapore National Olympic Committee (SNOC).
The SNOC had taken into consideration to send a squad to Incheon based on the team’s recent 3-2 win over their Bahrain counterparts on 5 August.
“We are grateful to the SNOC for approving our selection to participate in the Asian Games. We thank them for considering the fact that Bahrain is the 2013 Under-23 Gulf Cup champion,” said Bernd Stange, Head Coach, National Teams.
“Playing against top-class international opponents in the Asian Games will certainly help our young footballers to raise their game. We have already seen some encouraging performances from the Under-23 National Team this year. Our players are now raring to do their best for their country and will play with pride and passion.
“Finally, we want to thank all stakeholders, including sponsors, the media and most importantly the fans, for their support.”
The 2014 Asian Games will take place from 19 September till 4 October.
