SINGAPORE (14 Aug 2013) – ASEAN champions Singapore fell to two first-half goals from Oman tonight in a Group A tie of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers that was played at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
It was new coach Bernd Stange’s first competitive match for the Lion City side since taking over from Radjko Avramovic earlier in the year.
Qasim Said put the visiting Omani side in front in the 15th minute before Eid Al Farsi then added the second goal just before the break. The Lions tried hard to get back into the game in the second half but to no avail as the score stood firm.
The loss for Singapore was their second in the group after their 4-0 loss to Jordan in February.
