VIENTIANE (24 May 2015) – The Laos Under-23 side was handed with some harsh lessons by their counterparts from Singapore last night when they were given a 5-1 thrashing in a friendly at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
The Laotians who had previously overcame Thai Regional side Rangsit FC and then Thai Premier League outifit BEC Tero, were clearly over-played at the artificial turf even though they were the ones who took the lead first.
Thenthong Phonsetta fired in a free-kick in the 12th minute as Singapore were forced to regroup. In the 26th minute, the homesters finally broke level through Irfan Fandi.
With the score tied at the half, Singapore went ahead in the 55th minute when Adam Swandi slammed in a free-kick to be followed with another by Shahfiq Ghani.
Muhaimin Suhaimi and Amy Recha then finished things off right at the end.
