SINGAPORE (30 Nov 2010) – Former ASEAN champions Singapore got a morale boosting 4-0 win over Laos in their final friendly match ahead of the AFF Suzuki Cup this week as the Philippines fell to a 8-0 drubbing by Thai First Division side Nakhon Pathom FC.
All three teams – Singapore, Laos and the Philippines – are using the matches as preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup which kicks off first in Jakarta on 1 Dec. Singapore and the Philippines are in Group B in Vietnam while Laos are in Group A based in Indonesia. Striker Noh Alam Shah got the ball rolling for the Lions with the first goal late in the first half before Agu Casmir’s double and then another from Fazul Nawaz completed the win for the home side at the Jurong Stadium. “Everybody has been working very hard in the last seven days, so the players are a bit tired and we didn’t expect everybody to be at 100 per cent,” said Singapore coach Radojko Avramovic (pix). “From now on we will look to do more training on the technical aspects, and less on fitness.” “To be fair, we were in the game until the soft second goal,” said David Booth the chief coach for Laos. “We were never going to come here and score three goals, or even two, against Singapore.” |
