SINGAPORE (13 Nov 2016) – In the final test going into the cauldron of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 next week, Singapore exacted just revenge when they beat Cambodia 1-0 in the friendly that was played tonight at the Bishan Stadium.
In front of a sell-out crowd of close to 3,000 enthusiasts, Singapore’s only goal of the game came off substitute Yasir Hanapi with a 70th minute grounder.
“Friendlies are friendlies; the most important games are the games at the AFF Suzuki Cup against Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia,” said Singapore head coach V. Sundram Moorthy. “But I’m happy to get the win.
“The first half wasn’t that good, but we made some changes and played better in the second half. We kept the ball well, were getting crosses in and looked dangerous on the attack.”
