BANGKOK (30 July 2010) – Atletico Madrid star Simao has been penned down to travel with the team for their friendly against a Thai Premier League All-Star side at the Rajamangala National Stadium this Sunday.
Kick-off is at 5pm local time. It was reported earlier that Simao, Uruguay forward Diego Forlan and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero would not be in the Atletico Madrid squad for the match after their World Cup duties. However, the Spanish club have informed the Thai organisers that Portugal forward Simao will be part of the team for their trip East. During their sojourn in Bangkok, the Europa League champions will be staying at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel. In the meantime, Suree Sukha and Natthaphong Samana of Chonburi FC and Teerathep Winothai of Muang Thong United have pulled out from the All-Star side due to injury. Coach Piyapong Pue-on said he was not worried because he still has 28 players whom he can count on. “Nataporn Phanrit will be the captain in the first half and Therdsak Chaiman will lead the team in the second half,” added Piyapong. Tickets from BHT100 to BHT2,000 are available at Thai Ticket Major outlets (http://www.thaiticketmajor.com) and Star Soccer shops. |
