BANGKOK (6 June 2011) – Si Sa Ket FC handed their north-eastern neighbours Buriram PEA their first defeat of the season with a 1-0 win at home at the Si Sa Ket Stadium in this week’s Thai Premier League (TPL) encounter.
The current league leaders Buriram, who have been in devastating form all throughout the last few games, dominated for long but could not make any of them count with the only goal of the game coming off Victor Amaro.
But the loss did little to affect their position at the top of the standings as nearest challenger Chonburi FC were held to a 1-1 home draw against Muang Thong United.
Therdsak Chaiman gave Chonburi the lead on 16 minutes but the two-time defending champions fought back after the breather for Datsakorn Thonglao to nail the all-important equaliser.
Elsewhere, Insee Police United lost 1-0 to Thai Port FC at the Thammasat Stadium with Ekkachai Sumre scoring the winner in the 31st minute.
At the Army stadium, Army United came back from two goals down to earn a 3-3 draw with Pattaya United while Chiang Rai United beat TOT SC 2-0 at the Mae Fah Luang Stadium with goals from Leontin Chitescu (12th minute) and Edvaldo Pereira (27th).
At the Thephatsadin Stadium, homesters BEC Tero Sasana were hammered 3-1 by Osotspa M-150 Saraburi while Sri Racha FC went down 2-1 by TTM Phichit at the Suzuki Stadium.
SCG Samut Songkhram ended their poor run with a 2-0 win over Siam Navy at the Samut Songkhram Stadium with goals off Pollachai Hongthong (23rd minute) and Fabio (60th minute).
