PHNOM PENH (17 June 2013) – Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has pledged AFC’s support to develop football in Cambodia.
A day ahead of the inauguration of the National Training Centre in Bati, Takeo Province, Shaikh Salman met Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) President General Sao Sokha and vowed to provide all the necessary assistance to take the Cambodian football to a higher level.
“FFC is on the right track in terms of football development and the AFC will fully support FFC’s initiatives,” he told General Sao Sokha.
“We will provide technical expertise in the development and professionalising the league, grassroots and youth and administration management.
“AFC will be looking forward to support FFC in organising more educational courses in Cambodia to provide the coaches, referees and instructors the knowhow of modern methodology,” he added.
AFC would like to undertake a technical assessment in collaboration with FFC to design a long-term development plan for key areas like coach education, grassroots and youth development.
FFC have requested to conduct eight courses this year, including coaching, goalkeeping and conditioning courses.
AFC’s development programme – Kick Off – can help in management and marketing of the Cambodian domestic league.
