HANOI (26 June 2008) – Nam Dinh and An Giang are the latest teams to qualify for the National U21 championship following the round of qualification matches this week.
Home team Nam Dinh crushed their Group A opponent The Cong 8-1 while An Giang defeated Ca Mau 3-1 at home in Group F. Nam Dinh and Quang Ninh each have 10 points at the end of the qualifiers but Nam Dinh will advance on goal difference. Nam Dinh and An Giang join defending champions Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City for the September finals to be held in the central province of Binh Dinh. Da Nang crushed Lam Dong 4-1 in Group C for the nine points from three matches while Military Zone 5 finished second with five points after a 3-1 victory over Phu Yen. Dong Nai qualified from Group D with a 2-0 win over Dak Lak where they have amassed 12 points, to be followed by Dak Lak with nine and Saigon Port with seven. In Group E in Binh Duong Province, HCMC won 3-0 against Binh Duong to secure 12 points and qualify for the finals. In Group B Thua Thien-Hue defeated Hai Phong 2-0, and Quang Nam beat Thanh Hoa 4-0. Teams in Group B are still battling at Tu Do Stadium in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue for a spot in the finals. |
