BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (1 July 2011) – The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) have targeted late September or early October 2011 as the start of their inaugural football league.
With the recent lifting of the ban by FIFA, football in Brunei is going through a revival and the NFABD hope that they can get their football league off the ground.
For the moment though, the NFABD are going through a club registration drive when they launched it on 14 June 2011 to get clubs to join the NFABD as an affiliated member.
“So far we have issued more than 70 membership forms and we have collected more than 20 back,” said Mohd Noor Abdullah, the general secretary of the NFABD.
“To those that have not returned their forms, we ask them to do so as soon as possible.
“We want all the clubs to register with us so they will be eligible to participate in our activities. They will miss a lot if they don’t register.
“If the registration of members runs smoothly, and if everything goes according to plan, we will organise a league after Hari Raya.”
