KUALA LUMPUR (17 April 2011) – Defending Malaysian league champions Selangor went back to the top of the Malaysian Super League following their close 1-0 win over Perak at the Shah Alam Stadium last night.
A stiff right foot shot from national captain Safiq Rahim in the 68th minute was enough for the Red Giants to pick up 26 points as against second-placed Terengganu’s 24 points.
Third is Perak while fourth is defending Malaysia Cup champions Kelantan who could only afford a disappointing scoreless draw at home to Sabah in Kota Baru.
Fifth at the table is Kedah who scored a 1-0 win over Pahang with the only goal in the game coming off V. Thirumurugan in the 56th minute.
In the other matches, Harimau Muda A beat Johor FC 1-0 through a solitary strike from Irfan Fazail while Kuala Lumpur served a surprise for T-Team whom they beat 3-1 at the Stadium Bola Sepak Kuala Lumpur.
Perlis denied Negeri Sembilan new coach Azraai Khor Abdullah a winning start to his reign when they beat the visitors 3-2 at the Main Stadium in Kangar.
