BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (18 Oct 2015) – His Royal Highness Prince Sufri Bolkiah has been re-elected unopposed as the president of the National FA of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD).
Prince Sufri won the election by acclamation yesterday during the NFABD 2nd Ordinary Congress at the NFABD House along Jalan Pusat Persidangan in Berakas. He will serve a four-year term and keeps his seat on the executive committee (EXCO) of the country’s governing body of football, NFABD, as the president until 2019.
“I wish to thank and express my gratitude to all delegates who still have the faith and elected me, as the president of NFABD for the next four year term, (2015-2019). God willing, with the cooperation and support from all new EXCO, NFABD’s members and stake holders, especially the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, FIFA (The Fédération Internationale de Football Association), AFC (Asian Football Confederation) and AFF (ASEAN Football Federation), I will continue to work hard and bring our football to a greater height,” said Prince Sufri.
Zulkifli Duraman (Brunei Darussalam Referees’ Association), Razak Ibrahim (Brunei Muara District Football Association), Morni Zakaria (Belait District Football Association), Matussin Sumpong (Tutong District Football Association) and Meramit Damit (Temburong District Football Association) were also elected by acclamation as there was only one candidate for each position.
Meanwhile, Mohd Noor Damit, Bujang Jaapar, Ah Chua Bangau, Rosdin Abdul Aziz and Madli Yusof filled the remaining places by vote.
“To the new EXCO, congratulation to all of you, and I hope you will use this as a platform and motivation as way move forward and a productive four year ahead,” he added.
“From my observation, we have not reach the level that we are hoping for, either by our senior team, Under-23, Under-21,Under-19 and others, it is also the same with Futsal.”
“Pertaining to this matter, it is timely for the EXCO, and relevant standing committee, to handle this issue together. If necessary, I have no problem to form a special committee to identify all the critical factors, and prepare a comprehensive strategic action plan to address the matter.”
Present to witness the event were Lt Gen (rtd) Dato Azzuddin Ahmad General Secretary of the AFF, and Mun Si Song, the manager of the AFC Member Associations.
